Prof. Nadia Lahrichi wins Excellence Award for best academic paper at GISEH 2016
The 8th Francophone Conference on Managing and Engineering Hospital Systems (GISEH) took place in Casablanca, Morocco, from July 11 to 13, 2016. Prof. Nadia Lahrichi won the Excellence Award for best academic paper entitled “Optimisation des horaires de médecins dans un centre de radiothérapie” (optimizing physician hours in a radiation therapy center).
Abstract: The trajectory of the patients in a radiation center consists of several steps (consultation with the physician, scan, treatment planning and finally the treatment). Physicians play a key role in this trajectory since they must confirm each step before moving on to the next. In this project we construct an efficient schedule for the physicians based on the tasks to be performed in order to validate each step of the patients’ trajectory. We include the uncertainty associated with the arrival of the patients and their profile. We develop a stochastic tabu search algorithm to solve this problem and validate its performance (we compare the results to a commercial solver). Finally, we illustrate the results obtained from a real case.
